re:Action Photography

What events do you cover?

We specialize in low-light sports that take place indoors such as figure skating, dance, cheerleading and gymnastics. We also do studio work such as team and individual shots at a dance studio. We are also available to do corporate events and private parties and particularly enjoy events with children such as birthday parties. Although these types of events may not seem related, there is a lot of overlap in the equipment and skills needed to capture candid action at a party and low-light action at a sporting event.

How do you cover events?

We have several photographers available and can bring up to twelve view stations. We have our own tables, power strips, backdrops and other items needed to construct a booth for on-site viewing and ordering.

The number of personnel and amount of equipment we will bring to your event varies based on the size and duration. Multi-day events such as a skating competition held over a weekend, might need six to nine view stations, one or two photographers and several booth personnel. Bigger events would use all twelve view stations and as many photographers as needed to cover every athlete (varies by sport). Smaller events of just a few hours are generally done by one photographer and the images are uploaded to the internet for viewing and ordering after the event is over.

Where do you cover events?

We will do any event in the San Francisco Bay Area. We will travel to multi-day events within a 12 hour driving distance of San Francisco. That includes Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Travel to other parts of the country will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

When will my photos be on the internet and how long will they stay there?

Images are uploaded to this site within three days after the event and will stay here for at least one year.

How long does it take for my products to arrive after I've ordered them?

What if I don't like what I ordered?

See our Customer Care page for the latest information about delivery dates and refund policies.

What photography products do you offer?

Because we do not generally print on-site, we can offer a greater variety of products than many other event photographers. We offer individual prints up to 20" x 30". We can combine images in a custom poster designed just for you. We also offer several specialty items such as magnets and key tags.

What kinds of corporate and private events do you do?

Our specialty is in the "photojournalist" style -- in fact, we've been shooting events this way since before the style had a name. This means we roam the event looking for candid photo opportunities and shoot them as unobtrusively as possible. This style is excellent for many events including children's birthday parties, corporate picnics, and fundraisers. If those events include a sporting component such as taking place at a swim school or skating rink, so much the better as we can combine our two photographic loves.

I don't see my sport or event listed. Can you photograph it anyway?

Although we concentrate on figure skating, dance, cheerleading and gymnastics, we do have experience with other sports including hockey, soccer, baseball and softball. If you'd like us to cover something, please contact us. If we don't think we have the in-house expertise to do a quality job for you, we may know someone who does.

Do you use digital cameras?

Yes! re:Action Photography embraced digital early. We have over five years of experience with high-end professional digital cameras and lenses. These cameras are the same ones used by top photographers working for such publications as Sports Illustrated, USA Today and Reuters.

Digital capture allows us to present the images almost immediately following an event. For example, you can view and order images from your skating routine before the results of your event are even posted!

Can I use your photographs?

You may use any image you purchase from re:Action Photography for personal display in a home, school or office. You may not scan nor download the image and place it on a web site or in any sort of publication or use the image commercially (such as getting the athlete to autograph it and then selling it on eBay).

We do allow our images used for commercial and editorial purposes on a case-by-case basis so please contact us if you have such a use in mind. See our Terms of Service for more details.
